📝 Synopsis#

In the Marvel Universe’s New York, legal genius Jennifer Walters accidentally receives Hulk’s blood serum, becoming “She-Hulk” - a creature with both智慧 and super strength. She handles bizarre legal cases at her law firm while dealing with the complications of her new green alter ego.

When superheroes also need to deal with legal documents on a 996 schedule, that’s the real “working class” dilemma.

😈 Sarcastic Review#

Let’s talk about the script first. This series attempts to blend legal workplace drama with superhero genre, but does neither well. The legal storyline lacks professional depth, with cases handled like child’s play; the superhero storyline falls into standard Marvel clichés with nothing new to offer.

This夹缝 positioning makes the entire series feel like a bland fusion dish with no distinctive flavor.

Director Jessica Gao clearly wants to add satirical humor, but most jokes remain superficial. The exploration of “female superheroes” is touched upon without genuine social critique. It becomes another “political correctness” checkbox exercise.

The result of deliberately catering to audience taste is pleasing no one.

Tatiana Maslany’s acting is the only highlight. She portrays Jennifer’s awkwardness, resilience, and quick wit vividly. The subtle facial changes when transforming showcase her skill. Unfortunately, the character lacks a growth arc, and even great acting can’t save a flat persona.

A actor’s self-cultivation means still shining bright even in a terrible script.

The supporting characters are even more of a disaster. Ginger Gonzaga’s Nikki Ramos has almost no depth beyond being comedic. Other supporting characters are obvious tools, coming and going like临时 actors in a rush.

Marvel Universe series are becoming like instant noodles - industrially produced, convenient but nutrient-free.

In terms of visual effects, She-Hulk’s Hulk form is more refined than previous versions, but frequent transformation scenes inevitably cause aesthetic fatigue. The portrayal of New York City is relatively grounded, one of the few passing elements.

The problem with Marvel now isn’t lack of money, it’s lack of creativity.

Regarding theme expression, the series attempts to explore the classic proposition of “with great power comes great responsibility,” but handles it too flippantly. The double dilemma of women in the workplace and as superheroes could have been deeply explored, but remains at slogan-level expression.

When depth becomes a luxury, superficiality dominates. This is not just this series’ sadness, but the entire streaming era’s predicament.
