After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor finds himself drifting through a midlife crisis, traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy without direction. From a structural standpoint, the film attempts to balance epic adventure with personal emotional stakes, ultimately becoming a casualty on both fronts. The opening diagnosis of Jane Foster’s cancer should have been the emotional core, yet it gets diluted by endless quips and action sequences that follow.**The director clearly prioritized joke delivery over crafting character arcs.**Gorr’s god-slaughtering motivation could have been explored deeply but becomes merely a plot device—audiences never get the chance to feel any awe or fear toward him.

Taika Waititi’s directorial style reaches a point of “Success or failure hinges on Xiao He.” (success by the same hand, failure by the same hand).
