Lost Memories#

Vers (Brie Larson) is an elite warrior on the Kree planet, possessing superhuman strength, energy projection abilities, and flight capabilities. However, she has no memory of her past. She only knows she is “Captain Marvel,” trained by the Kree to be a guardian of interstellar order.

When a person doesn’t know who they are, every battle is a search for answers.

During a mission, Vers accidentally crash-lands on Earth, known to Kree as “Planet C-53.” Her arrival catches the attention of young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Fury is curious about this mysterious woman, while Vers gradually discovers clues about her past on Earth.

Hidden Truth#

Vers discovers she was once an Earth pilot named Carol Danvers. In 1989, she participated in a mission testing a new engine, but was captured by the Kree in an accident. The Kree erased her memories and transformed her into their weapon.

Truth may be hidden, but it never disappears.

Carol’s best friend Maria Rambeau, her missing daughter, and other clues gradually piece together a complete story: she is not a Kree-trained warrior, but a human deceived by the Kree. Her power comes from that engine explosion accident - she absorbed the energy of an Infinity Space Stone.

Awakening and Resistance#

When Carol finally recovers her identity, she realizes she has been fighting for the wrong side. The Kree “invasion” of the Skrulls is actually oppression - the Skrulls are just searching for a safe home. Carol decides to stand on the side of justice and protect the oppressed.

True heroes don’t serve the powerful - they speak for the weak.

Skrulls: The Misunderstood “Invaders”#

Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos is the Skrull leader. Initially, Carol believes Skrulls are invaders, an evil alien race. But as truth emerges, she discovers Skrulls are actually victims - their home was destroyed by the Kree, and they just want to find a safe place to survive.

True justice requires seeing truth, not following authority.

Talos’s character reversal is a major turning point in the film. He’s not a villain, but a refugee leader forced to flee. He and his family seek shelter on Earth, making Carol realize she’s been fighting for the oppressors.

Yon-Rogg: The Deceptive Mentor#

Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg is a Kree intelligence officer and Carol’s “mentor.” He teaches Carol how to use power, how to fight, but also controls and deceives her. Yon-Rogg tells Carol she must “restrain herself,” when actually this restraint is to make her a Kree weapon.

True mentors help you become yourself, not what they want you to be.

When Yon-Rogg’s deception is revealed, he tries to continue controlling Carol, but Carol has awakened. She tells Yon-Rogg: “I don’t need to prove anything to you.” Then, she defeats him with her fully unleashed power.

Maria Rambeau: True Partner#

Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau is Carol’s best friend. They served together in the Air Force, challenged prejudice together, flew together. Maria is key to Carol recovering her memories - she’s the most important person from Carol’s human life.

True friendship means emotions remain even when memories fade.

Maria’s character shows the power of support between women. She’s not a superhero, but she’s willing to risk everything for her friend. Her presence gives Carol’s awakening an emotional foundation - she recovers not just memories, but important people.

Goose: The Surprise Star#

Goose is the film’s surprise character - an apparently ordinary orange cat, actually a Flerken, a dangerous alien creature capable of swallowing everything. Fury initially thinks it’s just a cute cat, until it swallows several Kree soldiers and scratches Fury’s eye.

Goose’s existence proves Marvel’s humor - even cosmic creatures can be cats.

Goose’s setting comes from the original comics - a creature with immense swallowing ability. The film cleverly integrates it into the story, adding humor while explaining why Fury lost his eye (not from some serious battle, but scratched by a “cat”).
